What I hate the most about television and movies is that sometimes they do something that they think will help greatly and make the show more appealing but really just ends up ruining things. One of the most mainstream anime commit this atrocity that is commonly referred to as “time-jumping.” First I will detail the heinous sin that Sword Art Online commits. Firstly image one of the most hyped up shows you have known and that you are soo excited to watch it. So the show starts and the first episode keeping up it’s hype and having everyone be excited for the next episode. When the second episode aired people were disappointed to see that instead of continuing with the story line that they originally created they decided to jump several month ahead, skipping episodes of character development, plot development, and tragedy for the sake streamlining a series. This act is recurred many times throughout the show causing an almost perfect setup for an amazing show to plummet in the view of many viewers eyes. Now I’m not talking about showing background info or a flashback at the beginning of a show or movie and then skipping to present I’m talking about the full on cutout of time in the middle of a series. Imagine taking a tape of a certain time period and cutting out enormous amounts of time. Now that you know of these heinous mistakes made by media producers we need to stop these acts from ever happening ever again. Stop time jumps and endorse more plot and character development.
